It’s Been a Year!

I had my 1st Guitariversary! Recall, I first received my Fender amp and Danelectro in August 2024. Today, I proudly hang 4 guitars on my wall, and I’ve bought a bunch of related equipment: amps, mics, headphones, etc., along with a whole host of different software platform subscriptions that allow me to create, master, and distribute music.

As of today, I’ve published 45 songs. A couple are remixes or re-releases, and a few of them are pretty awful. But, on balance, I love the songs I’ve created. I’ve learned to play about 30 of them. I’ve made a few attempts at open mics and plan to continue to do that.

My second and most recent album, Why Can’t I?, has a solid list of 10 songs that I really love. My stock phrase about this journey is, “It can only get better from here.” I even wrote a song to that effect. While I continue to learn about the music industry, guitar, and maybe even keyboards (something new I’m trying), the AI music apps are improving significantly. I’m sensing there is more acceptance of AI-generated music too. Recently, CBS News ran a Saturday morning magazine-style segment that I thought was more positive than negative.

I’m starting to get interest from talented musicians who want to understand more about what I’ve done this year. I’m also actively promoting You Rock Studio at the upcoming Texas Women Songwriters Festival.

The highlight of my year so far is one of my songs played on the radio! (The PBS station out of University of New Mexico.) As a child of the ’60s and ’70s glued to the radio, that was an amazing achievement to me personally.

I’m continuing to take guitar lessons and write my truth. It’s healing and soul-enriching. Looking forward to year two and beyond.
